Today we have a problem with SF6 and we’re going to have it for the next 40 years

Alternative gases

The GWP (Global Warming Potential) of SF6 gas is 23,900 times that of CO2 (IPCC source).
This means that sulphur hexafluoride is basically a climate-killer!

But what are our options?
Are alternative gases a solution?
Are they sustainable?
Are they applicable in today’s world?

Today and for the next 40 years.. what is really Sustainable?
Economically
Environmentally
Socially

Actually,
Regenerated SF6 is the only long-term Sustainable3 solution

Regeneration

What is SF6 Regeneration by Synecom and which are its advantages

All over the world, about 450 thousand tons of SF6 gas are installed in high and medium voltage equipment.
Why should we keep producing new gas? Why don’t we just regenerate the already existing one?

SF6 gas Regeneration is an industrial process capable of extending the life cycle of SF6 gas (Sulfur Hexafluoride), contributing to additional economic and environmental value.

Its advantages are:
• All processes are molecolar sealed: zero emissions
• Regenerated SF6 gas has a better quality than IEC 60376 requirement: >3.7 o 4.0 N
• Avoid SF6 gas disposal fully compiant with Green economy philosophy and Sustainability3
• Recycling is not possible when SF6 gas is too contaminated: Regeneration starts when recycling is not possible anymore
• ISO 14001 dedicated to Regeneration: theRegeneration process is Certified

Integrated SF6 Regeneration Cycle

Why Synecom is focused on Integrated SF6 Regeneration Cycle

Since 2014 we have been working on the regeneration of SF6 gas, establishing ourselves as the first company in Italy and one of the first in Europe to carry out this crucial activity in view of the concepts of green economy and circular economy.

Using this special molecular-sealed cryogenic process, it is possible to regenerate sulphur hexafluoride by separating it from other chemicals, reducing CO2 equivalent emissions to a minimum and simultaneously obtaining sulphur hexafluoride with levels of purity equal to or greater than new.
